5 Tips to Get Ready Faster in the Morning
Ever have one of those mornings or even weeks when you just can’t get it together in the morning and you leave the house feeling a bit disheveled and unprepared? Starting your day like this doesn’t exactly set you up for success. I know when I start my day feeling a bit off it doesn’t goes as well as expected. Even though I am a fairly organized person, I’ve realized my summer schedule has hindered my regular routine and I need to do a bit more prep to achieve my desired outcomes. Below, I share some of tips on how to streamline your morning routine and get your day off to a great start!
Clothes: Selecting your outfit or a few options the night before can save you a ton of time and frustration in the morning. I know you have heard this a bazillion times. But do you actually do it? Lay everything out including your under garments, shoes and accessories. And if you haven’t worn something in a while, try it on to make sure it still fits AND you still love it. I also lay out my workout clothes. That way, I have already told my brain that I AM working out!
Hair: Treat yourself to a blowout once a week if your budget can handle it. Use dry shampoo in the morning to keep it fresh for a least a few days. If you can’t swing paying for a blowout, then do your hair yourself. Sometimes, I ask my husband to help me when I can’t do the back of my head. I know you are thinking, are you kidding? However, he actually does a really good job! Ask yours, you never know. He may have some hidden talent. He may also enjoy helping you with something so unexpected. It’s better than taking out the trash! My point being, there are people in your life that can help with your hair and maybe you can do something equally helpful for them. I know when I don’t need to do my hair everyday it saves me at least 20-30 minutes.
Make up: Organize your make up and toiletries for easy access. Layout all the products you use so they are easy to locate. I found that this helps me eliminate searching for that key make up application brush or my much needed under eye concealer that is always at the bottom of my make up bag. Now, I can really do my make up in 5 minutes or less.
Totes and more: Prepare you tote and items you need to take with you and place them near the door so you don’t forget anything. Leave your keys, glasses and sunglasses in the same place so you don’t waste time searching for them when you should be out of the house already. I am constantly losing my glasses!!
Car: Clean it out each night when you get home from work. I know you are thinking are you kidding? I don’t have time to do that. I can tell you that the minute or two you spend doing that will save you time in the long run. Plus, you won’t be embarrassed if you have to drive a friend, colleague, or client somewhere because your car will be clean! If you need to transport files, papers, binders, etc., keep a plastic container in the back seat and keep these items well organized in there. When I get into my car in the morning and it is clean and organized, I feel like my day is off to a great start.
