6 Simple Actions to Make Major Changes in 2016

December 31, 2015

Ready for a healthy, successful and fun year?  I sure am!  I am sharing my six rules for keeping things simple and focused on what matters most.  I have outlined the six actions I do consistently and I hope I can inspire you to make the necessary changes to achieve your goals, too!

  1. Prioritize - I set three work priorities and three personal priorities each day.  I find when I am clear about what is most important to accomplish each day, I stay focused and I'm less stressed.  Incremental progress leads to big gains!

  2. Organize -I continue weeding through the clutter in my office and my house.  Doing a few piles a day, a drawer, a counter, or closet makes the project seem less daunting.  I feel so much better when I see less clutter and my files are organized and up-to-date.  Clutter drains the energy out of you.  A clean and organized environment will make you feel better and make you more productive.  When you know where everything is, it saves you time and energy.

  3. Plan - In addition to setting daily priorities, I plan out what I want to achieve each month, then each week, and each day.  I find I can achieve more when I know exactly what needs to be done and it is mapped out visually for me to see each day.

  4. Exercise - Self-care is critical to success.  I make time to exercise each week.  Exercise not only makes me feel better, it also helps me focus better on my priorities and goals.  When I achieve a physical goal, it makes me feel like I can take on bigger goals overall.

  5. Rest - When I hit the wall, I rest.  Instead of reaching for a sugar treat or coffee, I take a mini break like a quick walk, read something fun or close my eyes and rest for at least 10-15 minutes.  By taking a few minutes for myself I have more energy, more patience, I am less stressed and can actually achieve more.  Burnout won't help you achieve your goals faster.  Be kind to yourself and take care of your body and mind.  Remember to drink your water!  It helps fights fatigue.

  6. Fun - Schedule time for fun.  I used to be such a workaholic that I felt guilty having fun.  Now I realize how important it is to my well-being and career success!

By doing these six activities, I stay focused, feel fabulous and enjoy each day.  I hope you can do the same!
