Do You Know What To Wear To A Holiday Party?

I love getting dressed for the holidays! But I know for some it can cause a great deal of stress – especially when there is no communication about expectations. There is nothing worse than showing up to a party or special dinner event and not feeling your best. Putting effort into your look tells your host you care about how much effort they put into creating a special event for you. Plus, you’ll end up with some fabulous pictures to post!

Here are some tips to help you look and feel fabulous throughout this wonderful holiday season.

  1. It is important to figure out the level of formality of the party or dinner. Just because the event takes place at a friend’s house doesn’t necessarily mean it will be super casual.

  2. Select an outfit that fits you, your style and the venue. You want to make sure you feel comfortable but are dressed appropriately.

  3. If the event is casual, you can still step it up a bit by wearing a slouchy sequined top or sparkly shoe.

  4. When choosing your party shoes keep in mind the heel height. If you’ll be standing most of the night, a 5-inch stiletto heel won’t cut it. You’ll be hobbling by the end of the night. A festive flat may be a better choice.

  5. Just because it is Christmas doesn’t mean you have to wear red. Plum, gray with silver, or winter white with gold are also festive choices.

  6. A gorgeous cashmere top worn with cigarette style pants or a fancy legging, coupled with a statement necklace and a kitten heel is the perfect outfit for Christmas dinner at home.

  7. If you plan on wearing anything body skimming you may want to invest in some comfortable undergarments to give you a smooth line.

  8. Treat yourself to a blowout – you deserve it!

  9. Have fun and take lots of pictures!
