Prepare for Your Next Position Now

Are you prepared for your next step or well-positioned for a new opportunity?

According to Deloitte research, seven out of ten CEOs believe that revenues will be back to pre-pandemic numbers by June 2021.

That means companies will be hiring!

It’s up to you to decide how you want 2021 to unfold for you.

Here are 5 tips to get you thinking about your next step:

  1. Get crystal clear on your vision for your life and your career. When you have a clear picture of where you are headed, you can map out your plan and begin to uncover new opportunities. Plus, your brain goes to work on making it happen now that it knows what you want to do. Think about ways you can tie your vision to your company’s goals.

  2. Do you love what you do? Is your current work aligned with what is most important to you? Clarify your priorities, standards, values, and passions. Knowing these will help you better determine what’s a good fit.

  3. Look for ways to improve or expand your existing role. How can you add more value, learn a new skill or take on more responsibility? Don’t wait for the opportunity to come to you - CREATE IT!

  4. Ask for feedback. What new skills do you need to develop? Do you need to shift any behaviors or reframe your thinking? Now is the time to invest in your professional development.

  5. Think about who can help you. Find your champions and cultivate relationships with them. These are the people both inside and outside your company who can provide guidance and support and will go to bat for you when key opportunities arise.

Schedule time to meet with them periodically.

What steps will you take? Whether you want a promotion or have more impact in your current role, the power is in your hands.

What will you do with what you know and who can help you?

Accountability is key.
